Janie Pirie SBA specialises in floral and botanical art using coloured pencils. Her meticulously drawn and striking compositions have immensely accurate detail together with great depth and a rich intensity of colour.
Janie has built up a substantial base of admirers and collectors and now sells her originals and limited edition prints nationally as well as locally. She gained her first RHS medal in June 2008 and has also been invited to exhibit at the Hunt Institute in the USA. In 2009 and 2104 she was awarded RHS gold medals at BBC Gardener’s World Live and the Malvern Spring Show was also presented with a crystal vase for ‘Best Botanical Artist in Show 2009’.
Art Workshops & Courses
Janie regularly runs workshops at the Cambridge University Botanical Gardens, Higham Hall in The Lake District, Flatford Mill Field Studies Centre in Dedham, Tindall’s Art Shop in Colchester & Elm Farm Studios near Coggeshall in Essex. She also visits Art Groups across the country to run workshops and demonstrations when requested.
Sadly, the Covid situation continues, resulting in all classes being cancelled for the foreseeable future. In light of this Janie launched a Patreon page on January 14th 2021 with online tutorials for absolute beginners as well as intermediates and the more advanced coloured pencils enthusiasts. There really is something there for everyone. Go to: https://www.patreon.com/janiepirie for more information or to join.
